Wavespell

The mermaid, a legendary being around which stories of allured mariners flourish, is the inspiration for this song. A myth tells that eating her flesh can provide eternal life, but success is entrusted to fate: in fact, this creature's flesh is powerfully venomous, and the effects can be different. Often death comes, sometimes immortality's price is being turned into revolting beings, only rarely the gift of eternal life and youth, the power to live the end of every age, is ensured. But eternal life is an ephemeral and subtle pleasure, and can become an eternal torment, when all that surrounds us is destroyed by time, when wars follow each other, when burden hoarded through the centuries becomes overwhelming: this is why that for which long has been yearned, that wonderful enchantment becomes an obscure curse, an evil spell that leads to long for death, the end of a centuries-old anguish. Existance is brought to searching first for immortality, then for death, always because of a mysterious, delicate but cruel creature of the deep, in a turmoil of clashing feelings.
